Bayern Munich and Inter Milan both seek a coveted “treble” when they meet in Madrid for the 2010 Champions League Final on Saturday. Bayern are the Bundesliga and German Cup winners; Inter won the Scudetto and Copa Italia this season. Yet few would have given either squad much chance of getting this far.

Inter boss Jose Mourinho is looking for his 2nd UEFA Champions League titleWhile Bayern Munich seek their fifth European championship this weekend and Inter Milan their third, the managers of the two clubs are looking to make a mark of their own.

Both coaches have won the European championship before. Bayern's Louis van Gaal won it with Ajax in 1995 and Inter's Jose Mourinho steered Porto to a win in 2004. This weekend one of the two will join Ernst Happell (Feyenoord 1970, Hamburger SV 1983) and Otmar Hitzfeld (Borussia Dortmund 1997, Bayern 2001) as only the third manager in football to win a European crown with two different clubs.

And the irony is, neither team was expected to be here!
